Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Development Specialist to help grow fundraising efforts in our Oklahoma City and Norman service areas. This position is ideal for someone with fundraising or sales experience who enjoys building relationships, meeting ambitious goals, and creating meaningful community partnerships.

Reporting to the Regional Area Director, the Development Specialist will play a key role in planning and executing fundraising initiatives that support our mission. The primary responsibility of this position is raising funds through two signature events in each market: Bowl for Kids' Sake and our annual fundraising galas. The position will be based in our Oklahoma City office and will work closely with volunteers, sponsors, donors, committees, and community partners throughout the Oklahoma City and Norman communities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute Bowl for Kids' Sake campaigns in both Oklahoma City and Norman, including sponsorship sales, company engagement, team captain recruitment, fundraising coaching, and volunteer coordination.

  • Plan and execute the annual fundraising galas in both Oklahoma City (Taste of OKC) and Norman (Noshville), including sponsorship solicitation, ticket sales, committee support, event logistics, and donor stewardship.

  • Lead the solicitation, procurement, and organization of silent and live auction items for both gala events.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate sponsors, individual donors, community partners, and volunteers to achieve annual fundraising goals.

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and sponsors throughout the year.

  • Ensure sponsors receive all contracted benefits and provide meaningful stewardship and recognition following events.

  • Maintain accurate donor and event records within BBBSOK databases and event platforms.

  • Assist with fundraising communications, sponsorship materials, presentations, and donor proposals.

  • Collaborate with statewide staff and assist with fundraising initiatives across the organization as needed.

  • Participate in occasional evening and weekend events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Two or more years of successful fundraising, sales, business development, account management, or related experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and successfully ask for financial support, sponsorships, or sales commitments.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Comfortable speaking to individuals and groups and representing the organization in the community.

  • Self-starter who works independently while collaborating effectively with teammates.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with CRM or donor databases preferred.

  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly throughout the Oklahoma City and Norman metro areas.
